The multi-award-winning Afrotherapy Salon in Edmonton is recognised as one of London’s best specialist hairdressing salons, offering professional and expert care for Afro and mixed-race, or multi-textured hair. We currently have great opportunities for Hairdressing Apprentices to join our team, especially for 16-19 year olds eager to start their careers in hairdressing. Our Apprentice Programme allows you to earn while you learn, providing excellent training to help you achieve NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Hairdressing. To succeed, you need to be committed, determined, and willing to learn.
Here are the daily duties you can expect as a Hairdressing Apprentice at Afrotherapy:
Morning Preparation
The whole team arrives early to ensure the salon is clean and organised and ready for the our clients arrival. This includes sweeping the floors, sanitising workstations, and preparing tools and equipment.
Apprentices are responsible for ensuring all hair products, towels, and other necessities are stocked and ready for use.
Client Interaction
Welocming our clients warmly as they enter the salon is a key task for apprentices, you may often be their first point of contact as they enter the salon. You would then offer refreshments and make sure they have everyhing the need to make them them feel comfortable.
On some occasions you may asked to assist senior stylists during client consultations, taking notes, and preparing any necessary products or tools.
Shampoo and Conditioning
Shampooing is a very important stage in the clients journey through their salon experience. Having your hair washed with beautiful products followed by a relaxing head massage makes people feel truly pampered.
Assisting Stylists
Apprentices are relied upon to support and help stylists with various tasks such as mixing hair colours, handing over tools, and setting up for hair treatments.
This also offers a great opportunity to observe and learn advanced techniques in cutting, colouring, and styling from watching and assisting experienced stylists.
Salon Maintenance
Cleanliness is very important. Apprentices are required to regularly tidy the salon throughout the day, ensuring it remains clean and inviting for clients.
You will also be asked to help wash and fold towels and gowns used during services.
Training and Development
There is lots of opportunity to grow and develop your skills at Afrotherapy Salon. Take advantage of hands-on practice opportunities under the supervision of senior stylists. We also offer regular training sessions and workshops where you can participate to enhance your skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
End-of-Day Duties
Closing tasks towrads the end of a day in the salon for an apprentice include assisting with end-of-day cleaning and organisation, preparing the salon for the next day.
