Micro Ring Extensions

Micro Rings Extensions at Afrotherapy Hair Salon, Edmonton, Central London

Welcome to Afrotherapy Hair Salon in Edmonton, Central London, where we specialise in micro rings extensions, also known as micro bead and nano rings. Our expert stylists offer a range of application techniques, including iTips, Tapes, and Bonds/K-Tips, to suit your unique hair needs.

Micro ring extensions are a semi-permanent hair extension method that uses small metal rings or beads to attach the extensions to your natural hair. This technique avoids the use of heat, glue, or tape, making it a popular choice for those seeking a less damaging option. We provide a variety of hair extension lengths and custom colours, ensuring you find the perfect match for your style.

To achieve the best results, a consultation is needed to assess your hair and determine the most appropriate method for your hair type.

iTips

iTips are a popular, safe, and reusable method of human hair extensions available at Afrotherapy Hair Salon in Edmonton, Central London. Each iTip is crafted with keratin and shaped into a compact, small tip that fits comfortably into 2mm, 3mm, or 4mm size copper rings. This technique ensures zero tension on your natural hair, providing a secure and comfortable fit.

Our iTips range from 0.8g to 1g per strand, making them lightweight and easy to wear. Transform your hair with as little as 50g-100g of extensions for subtle enhancement, or opt for 150g-300g to achieve a fuller, longer look. The amount of hair needed varies for each individual, depending on your unique hair surface area and desired outcome.

iTips extensions last up to 2-3 months, depending on your hair growth cycle, maintenance, and aftercare. After this period, they should be professionally removed and can be reapplied if the hair has been properly maintained. Professional removal is crucial to prevent any damage to your natural hair.

Tapes

Tapes are a popular choice and particularly beneficial for fine or thinning hair, adding volume and thickness seamlessly. These extensions sit flat against your head and provide excellent coverage, making them a favourite for achieving a natural look. Tape-ins consist of two small wefts of hair that sandwich a slice of your natural hair, creating a secure and comfortable fit.

Lightweight and easy to wear, a full head application typically requires 30-40 tape extensions. However, those with more surface area can add additional tapes for a fuller look without discomfort. They are also great for playing around with hair colour and getting creative without causing any damage to your natural hair. Better yet, tapes can be styled with heated tools and straighteners and professionally coloured offering versatility and a natural look that’s indistinguishable from your own hair.

Tape-ins last for 6-8 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle, maintenance, and aftercare.

Bonds / K-Tips

Flat-tip hair extensions are a game-changer for stylists and clients, offering a faster, more efficient application process while delivering exceptional results. Designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, flat-tip extensions help stylists save time, making the bonding process less time-consuming yet highly effective.

Crafted with keratin, these flat-tip extensions are easy to heat and mould, ensuring a secure, durable bond. Once hardened, they create a solid foundation that keeps the extensions firmly in place, no matter what your day-to-day activities entail. This method is not only long-lasting but also incredibly discreet, making it a favourite for those seeking natural-looking volume and length.

Removing flat-tip extensions is simple and hassle-free. By clamping over the bond, it breaks down easily and slides right out of the hair. However, to avoid damage, it’s essential to have the removal process performed by a professional.

Flat-tip extensions are ideal for individuals with fine hair, offering a safe and discreet way to add both thickness and length. This method ensures a flawless blend while maintaining the health and integrity of your natural hair.

Whether you're a stylist looking for efficiency or a client wanting stunning, natural results, flat-tip bonds/K-tips are the perfect solution!

Your Hair Extension Consultation

We understand that hair extensions can be daunting if you've never tried them before and you may have questions about which type is best for you. That's why we always recommend that you start your journey with a complimentary hair extensions consultation.

During this session, your talented Afrotherapy hair extension expert will assess your hair to determine the most suitable extension method for your hair type, ensuring your natural hair can thrive alongside the chosen application. If your hair isn’t in optimal condition to support a specific method, alternative extensions will be recommended to protect and nurture your hair while achieving your desired look.

Investing in hair extensions means committing to proper care from the start. Regular maintenance, including washing, blow-drying, and daily brushing, is crucial to prevent tangling or matting. We also recommend you visit us for a professional wash, blow dry and styling to help you keep your extensions in excellent condition.

While professional application methods do not damage your natural hair, improper aftercare can lead to issues. Following aftercare instructions diligently is key to maintaining both your extensions and the health of your natural hair.

Typically, micro ring extensions can last 8 to 12 weeks before needing maintenance. Regular appointments are essential to reposition or tighten the rings as your natural hair grows. Are hair extensions difficult to style?

Micro ring hair extensions are not difficult to style and can be treated much like your natural hair. You can curl, straighten, and even style them into updos. Your stylist can offer specific tips and products to ensure your extensions stay secure and look their best while styling.

What will my hair be like when I remove the extensions?

After removing micro ring extensions, your natural hair should feel just as it was before. You may notice your hair feels slightly thinner, but this is simply because you've become used to the added volume and length of the extensions.

Will my hair shed when I take the extensions out?

«

It's normal to see some shedding when the extensions are removed; this is hair that naturally fell out during the wear period but was held in place by the rings. To maintain the health of your hair, a deep conditioning treatment after removal is recommended, and your stylist can advise on the best ways to keep your hair strong and healthy post-extensions.
