Heat Activated Smoothing System

Looking for a more manageable way to wear your natural texture? Avlon Texture Release at Afrotherapy Hair Salon in Edmonton, Central London is a heat-activated smoothing system designed for coarse, tightly coiled and curly hair.

The treatment uses amino acids and conditioning agents to soften and loosen the hair's natural curl pattern, making it easier to comb, detangle and style while retaining movement and texture. Unlike a permanent relaxer, Texture Release is semi-permanent. The results gradually fade over time and your natural curl pattern returns.

Most clients have a Texture Release treatment around three or four times a year, depending on their hair, desired result and how quickly their natural texture returns.

One of the questions we're asked most often is: what's the difference between Texture Release and a Relaxer?

A relaxer permanently alters the hair's structure to create a straighter result and requires regular root touch-ups as new hair grows. Texture Release is different. It's a heat-activated, semi-permanent smoothing treatment designed to soften the natural texture rather than permanently straighten it.

The result is hair that can feel softer and be easier to manage, detangle and style, while still retaining its natural movement and curl pattern.

Is Texture Release Right For Me?

Texture Release isn't a one-size-fits-all treatment. Before we recommend it, we'll look at your hair's current condition, previous chemical treatments, how you normally wear your hair and what you'd like to achieve.

At Afrotherapy, we've worked with Afro, curly and multi-textured hair for more than 20 years. Our stylists work with everything from natural coils and curls to relaxed, chemically treated and heat-styled hair, so we understand that the right approach can vary considerably from one head of hair to another.

We'll talk through whether Texture Release is suitable for your hair, what kind of result you can expect and how to look after it afterwards. If your hair isn't in the right condition for the treatment, we'll explain why and may recommend focusing on strengthening and conditioning first.

Our Experience With Afro & Textured Hair

Afrotherapy has been working with Afro, curly and multi-textured hair since 2001. Over the years, we've developed a detailed understanding of how different hair types, textures and treatments can affect the way hair behaves, which is particularly important when considering a semi-permanent treatment such as Texture Release.

We take a consultation-led approach, looking at your hair's history, current condition, routine and what you'd like to achieve before recommending a treatment.

A few things that are important to us:

*20+ years of experience – Afrotherapy was founded in Edmonton in 2001, specialising in Afro, curly and multi-textured hair.
*A wide range of hair experience – our stylists work with natural, relaxed, chemically treated and heat-styled hair.
*Industry recognition – Afrotherapy and its stylists have received recognition through awards including the Black Beauty/Sensationnel Hair Awards, L'Oréal Colour Trophy, Mizani Afro Look Awards and London Hair & Beauty Awards.
*Individual advice – we'll assess your hair and talk through the expected result before deciding whether Texture Release is suitable.
*Aftercare support – we'll explain how to look after your hair and maintain the results between appointments.

How Does The Texture Release Work?

Using a specially formulated sulfate-free shampoo to cleanse and moisturise the scalp and hair, your stylist will then apply unique formula that penetrates deep into the cortex of the hair. The hair is then blow-dried straight and smooth before being ironed flat. The hair will then develop a resistance to frizz and humidity and give you beautiful looking shiny, healthy locks for up to 3 months.
