Blonde Hair Colour for Mixed Race & Afro Hair

You should always visit a professional hair colour expert if you want to transform your naturally dark hair to platinum blonde. Your hair will  need to be stripped entirely of all colour and then toned to a platinum shade, which if not carried out by a professional, could be disastrous for your hair! Golden or honey blonde highlights can add warmth to your hair colour if you are not ready to take the plunge with platinum blonde hair colour.

Copper or Red Hair Colours For Black Women

Red and copper hair shades will add warmth and interest to your natural hair colour. You can choose from an all over red hair colour, or ask your Afrotherapy hair colour expert to weave flashes of auburn, copper or red highlights throughout your hair to add multi-dimensional hair colour.

Rich Black & Brown Hair Colours for Afro & Mixed Race Hair

If you feel your natural hair colour is looking a little dull, but you do not want a drastic hair colour change, why not pep up your hair colour with a rich brown, black or chestnut colour? This can add interest to your natural hair colour and give it a glossy boost!

Fashion Hair Colours for Afro & Mixed Race Hair

Because afro and mixed race hair colour tends to be naturally dark, you will find that stronger fashion colours work better than lighter colours.  Reds, purples and blues looks great if you want to turn heads when you enter a room!   Ombre hair colour or ‘root stretch’ continues to be a big trend so we can also create this ‘two-tone’ look to stylish effect.

Hair Colour Maintenance for Afro & Mixed Race Hair

The lighter you go with your hair colour, the more maintenance it will require.  We would recommend you visit Afrotherapy every three to four weeks so we can cover root regrowth.  Permanent hair colour also tends to dry out your hair a little so we will recommend the right treatments and products that will keep your hair looking glossy and moisturised and the colour looking vibrant. If you are not sure that you will be able to keep up maintenance of your hair colour you could consider a semi-permanent hair colour.

Temporary Colours: Temporary hair colours only last until your next shampoo so they are perfect if you want a stunning new hair colour for a special night out or event.  These chemical-free hair colours coat your hair rather than penetrating deep into the strands so they are safe to use on relaxed hair.  They will not lighten your hair but will add colour such as deep reds and chestnut browns or even fashion colours like blue or purple.
Semi-permanent Colours: Semi-permanent colours are applied to wet hair which has been shampooed.   These colours are chemical-free and safe to use on processed hair.  You will not see a drastic colour change with a semi permanent hair colour but they do last for between six and 10 shampoos, gradually fading over time.

Permanent Colours: Permanent hair colour can give you a significant change.  Various shades of colour can be achieved using hair colour with ammonia and peroxide. The colour does not wash out but will grow out as your hair grows.
