Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Tickled Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause that is very close to our hearts here at Afrotherapy. Tickled Pink is all about raising awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and supporting those affected by this disease. The pink theme, often symbolised by pink ribbons, is a beacon of hope and solidarity, representing the fight against breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Now Wear It Pink Campaign will be running throughout all of October and we aim to raise £500 for this incredible charity.

We are passionate about making a difference. Beginning Sunday 6th October, our entire team will be embracing the pink theme, donning vibrant pink outfits to show our support for this incredible cause. Our salon will be beautifully decorated with a stunning pink colour theme, creating an uplifting and encouraging atmosphere for all our clients.

Throughout the day, all tips received will be donated to breast cancer charities, supporting research, awareness campaigns, and patient care. By simply coming in for a service, you are making a significant impact.

We will also be having a pink cupcake sale! Everyone is welcome!

Why Get Involved?

Breast cancer affects millions of people worldwide, including our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. Early detection and advanced treatments have significantly improved survival rates, but continued support is essential. By getting involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you contribute to life-saving research, support programs for patients and survivors, and help spread vital information that can lead to early detection.

Together, we can make a difference and help bring an end to breast cancer. Let's be tickled pink and stand united in the fight against breast cancer.

Hair Loss During Cancer Treatments

Hair loss can be one of the most distressing aspects of dealing with cancer and can have a devastating effect on your confidence and self-esteem. Following chemotherapy, hair loss can affect body and facial hair, including the eyebrows and eyelashes. However, in most cases, hair loss is a temporary side effect of treatment. Hair typically starts to grow back after chemotherapy is over or even towards the end of the treatment.

In some instances, the hair that grows back after chemotherapy can look and feel different. You may notice changes in texture, with hair possibly becoming curlier or finer than it used to be.  At Afrotherapy, our expert stylists are here to support you if you are struggling with hair loss or thinning hair due to cancer treatments. We understand how challenging this experience can be, and we are dedicated to helping you regain your confidence with personalised hair care solutions and styling tips tailored to your needs.
